Textura / Decafe
Raul Lauri is a young Spanish designer from Ibi (Alicante) who came up with the fantastic idea of creating homewares and lights out of used coffee grinds. This genius idea got him awarded the first prize at the Salone Satellite Award 2012 in Milan.
Raul started reflecting on how he could make the most of our everyday wastes. With coffee being one of the most traded commodity in the world and taking such an important part in people’s life and habits, he decided to work around the idea of upcycling the used coffee grinds. The final result of a long experiment, lots of patience and enthusiasm is stunning! By using traditional culinary techniques and a natural binder, Raul started creating homewares and lights and was able to retain the beautiful texture and aroma of the used coffee grinds.
Textura / Pluma Cubic
Pluma Cubic creations represent a symbiosis of natural feathers and clear, geometric forms, combined to create sensuous pieces that raise eyebrows and start conversations.
Every lamp is entirely hand-crafted from 2,000 to 4,000 goose or rooster feathers, individually selected for uniformity and makes an elegant statement whether featured in residential or commercial environments.
The translucent quills pierce the shade in a dense pattern, creating a homogeneous surface. Both sides remain visible; the elegance and natural softness of the feathers themselves as well as the spiky, horn-like quills. Light is diffused in a mesmeric, lyrical moment of joy.
Heike Buchfelder founded the label Pluma Cubic in 2005. She studied architecture at the university of the Arts in Berlin and at the Oslo School of Architecture. Today her design collection comprises 21 unique pieces and is sold internationally. Textura is proud to be the exclusive distribution partner of Pluma Cubic in Australia.
Textura / Zieta
Oskar Zieta graduated in Architecture from the University of Technnology in Szczecin (Poland) in July 2000. After completing his studies he participated in the scholarship program in Computer Aided Architectural Design (CAAD) at the ETH in Zurich (Switzerland). There Oskar expanded his proficiencies in computer based architectural design and controlled production technologies.
During his research at the ETH, he developed different methods of enhancing efficiency of technology for steel design, architecture and construction. Among others, the FIDU technology was developed (Freie-Innen-Druck-Umformung) – Internal Pressure Forming. FIDU implies inflating two steel sheets welded around their edges into a 3D object. It takes only two thin steel sheets to create a complicated and very durable 3D object from steel in FIDU.
In 2008, Oskar Zieta introduced to the market his PLOPP stool as well as a limited edition of the chair Chippensteel and in 2009, he developed the whole Zieta collection.
